OUR GREEN POLICY:
As stewards of the environment, we recognise the importance of preserving and protecting the natural world. To get to the range buildings from the car park; customers have to walk through our living willow archway, along the wood chip path, past wildlife and tree identification signs, metal sculptures, planted trees and over the bridge of our thriving ponds where dragonflies breed annually.
Working with nature is a huge part of the business, sometimes we have no choice- like the blue tits currently nesting within the walls of our archery building.
The Green Tourism Award is one of best achievements we have received as a business. Our green policy statement is available on our website and printed at numerous locations at our venue. “A passion for target sports, a love for nature”. At The Cotswold Range we have created a 2-acre landscaped venue that combines the best of both.
The Cotswold Range is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment. The key points include:
Minimising waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
(At The Cotswold Range over 95% of all business waste is recycled, even the lead pellets from our air rifle sessions)
Actively promote recycling both internally and amongst its customers and suppliers.
(Signage on the main paths and targets encourage people to dispose of their waste properly)
Source locally and bulk buy to reduce the impact of production and distribution.
(Our range buildings are sponsored by Wales Archery and Wiltshire Rod & Gun, our two closest equipment providers)
Meet or exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to the company. (Our venue has been landscaped with key environmental benefits, our toilet connection is harvested from rainwater, our function room lighting is solar powered and to date, 2 x 40,000 litre ponds, bird and bat boxes, log stacks and over 90 planted trees and shrubs.
In May 2024 as part of our ongoing sustainability campaign we are launching a discount for all customers that cycle to our venue. The Cotswold Water Park has a big cycle network which is underused, and we are finalising plans with a local bike hire company to show the best routes to explore the area.
The Cotswold Range has a Habitat Hero membership with the Cotswold Lakes Trust, a charity that maintains and protects nature reserves throughout the Cotswold Water Park through which we operate.
Their frontline conservation work protects and improves the areas rich natural environment.
By operating in harmony with nature, we not only reduce our environmental impact also inspire
others to adopt sustainable practices.
